Newborn Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time for maternity pictures?

Maternity sessions are scheduled between 30-36 weeks. At this point in pregnancy a baby bump is very noticeable and hopefully mom is not too uncomfortable.

What is a Lifestyle Newborn Session?

These sessions are very relaxed. They focus on capturing natural interactions with you and your baby throughout your home. Most of our time is typically spent in the nursery or master bedroom.

What is a Fresh 48?

These sessions take place within the first 48 hours of birth. I will come to the hospital and document these first moments with you and your baby.

When should I schedule my session?

Right now! It is best to schedule the session before your baby is born, usually in your second trimester. This will insure my availability. I will tentatively pencil you in for your due date. After your bundle of joy is born we can set an exact date.

When should my newborn be photographed?

Anytime is the right time! It is never to0 late to capture your growing baby. However, if you want the sleeping curled up poses the 5-14 day mark is ideal. At this age newborns still remember what it is like in mom’s womb and feel comfortable in tucked poses.

My baby is already born. Is it too late to schedule?

No! Although I generally try to book newborn sessions months in advance, I may have last minute openings.

Who should come to the session?

Mom and/or Dad should be there. Sometimes I may need an extra pair of hands. If sibling(s) will be included in the session they will only need to be there for a brief time.

Where do newborn sessions take place?

All newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your own home.

How should I prepare?

I will send an  e-mail with instructions and tips prior to your session.

May I take pictures during the session?

I respectfully request that all cameras, cell phones and videography not be used at any time during your session.
